Jesus’ Ultimate Mic Drop!

Throughout the 1980s, during the introductory years of rap music, nothing was more thrilling in urban neighborhoods than watching a rap battle. It was a treat to experience the freshest, most creative rhymes, with hyperbole and metaphors delivered in syncopated timing over hard-core rhythms and driving drumbeats. Everyone waited with bated breath to see who would dominate and ultimately reign as the Rap Battle Champion!

However, there was one ultimate move that was a surefire sign that you either were or had just witnessed what was deemed as “the baddest of the bad”… the “mic drop!” This would often take place when the crowd becomes exhilarated and begins shouting, thunderously applauding, and cheering on the one person whom they deem to be dominating their opponent.

The winner becomes undeniable and there’s only one thing for the soon-to- be crowned champion to do: he or she simply drops the microphone. That one move signaled to onlookers and any perspective challengers that there’s no need to pick it up again, because they can’t compete with what was just unleashed on it. And, so it is with the Lord and Savior, Yeshua HaMashiach aka Jesus THE Messiah… the one who turned water into wine in  John 2:1–11, healed the blind man with spit and dirt (John 9:1-12), and “set it off” in the temple while chasing out the people buying, selling, and exchanging money (Matthew 21:12-13).

But NOTHING could ever compare with what was accomplished on the day that Jesus, already in a weakened and in a critical physical condition due to severe blood loss, dehydration, and shock, was made to carry the cross that was ultimately to play a pivotal role in His own death. But the story doesn’t end there! While taking His last breaths, Jesus would utter just 3 simple words to set the record straight once and for all on who’d be crowned King of Kings and the Lord of Lords… “It Is Finished!”  Jesus’ ultimate mic drop is found in (John 19:30)! NO one else was deemed worthy enough to have competed or to ever pick it back up! I am forever grateful! John 3:16 NLT🦋
